    Anastatic. Numismatic literature...

    €15.00

Anastatic. Numismatic literature insert, edited by Luca Lombardi, Bari, a. I, vol. I, 2017, pp. 44, ill. bn and col., cm 28, br. and.

The scientific study of a coin always begins with the critical consultation of the publications in which it was considered, up to the writing in which the coin was made known for the first time. To study even a single specimen, the researcher may therefore need to examine dozens of volumes. These then multiply when an entire coinage needs to be studied. It follows that in numismatic research the knowledge of texts, even ancient ones, is of fundamental importance. However, these publications are often not available in public or private libraries and on the antiques market. From this consideration and the consequent need to make dated and rare studies usable, Anastatica was born, an insert in the magazine Monete Antiche dedicated to the anastatic re-proposal of numismatic contributions that are difficult to trace. The writings presented in Anastatica are rigorously selected on the basis of two criteria: the current scientific interest and the documentary importance in the context of the paths that led to the construction of knowledge. Furthermore, original scientific contributions are sporadically proposed in Anastatica. This volume collects the entire Anastatica publication for the year 2017. It opens with the article by the historian Luigi Suttina Il re numismatico, published for the first time in the magazine La Lettura, n. 5 of 1924; follows an original study by Anna Sapienza (University of Messina): Abstract symbols or talking images? The triskeles and the tetraskeles in monetary documents; at the end, the first pages of the work of A. Dieudonné and J. Florange Choix de monnaies et médailles du Cabinet de France are presented. Monnaies grecques d'Italie et de Sicile, published in Paris in 1913, while the rest of the text will find space in Anastatica of 2018.
