English: The function of the product "money" has always been to pass from hand to hand, carrying with it a series of economic, historical, political and social messages. But at the base of everything there is always metal, with the obscure people who extracted and worked it, who translated a set of ideas into a form and prepared the tools to convert those ideas into that form. Observing an ancient coin, taken as we are by the meanings that its creators have transferred to it, too often we miss what lies behind its creation; in addition to all the precautions aimed at preserving its integrity, behind it there is, in essence, the constant search for the subtle balance between content and form and between cost and value. With this work we have tried to examine the "physicality" of money in its various aspects (legal, substitutive, false or imitated), following its developments to provide researchers and collectors, in addition to news and sources, a series of information on the evolution of the tools and techniques used for its creation.

A work of wide scope and notable utility, this impressive dictionary – in size and content – collects and organizes in a systematic way the main entries relating to numismatics and religious sigillography. It offers a detailed repertoire of terms, symbols, characters, legends, events, religious orders, iconographic representations and ceremonial uses attested on coins, medals, seals and ecclesiastical emblems. The work draws on historical, liturgical and antiquarian sources, and is distinguished by the wealth of documentation and the attention to the historical and theological context of the emissions and impressions.

Missing upper cap, superficial abrasions on the spine and browning, however overall a pleasant and perfectly usable example.
